The Barbed Wire Open Mic Series (A BorderSenses Event) a.k.a. BWOMS is a multilingual event that celebrates free speech through the arts, and that allows community members a platform from which they can express their poetic perspectives and unique voices. Established in 2007, BWOMS has provided a stage to over thousands of performs from the region, as well as those who visit the city. BWOMS has received several awards including Best Open Mic (Texas Spoken Word Association) and Community Spirit Award (El Paso Community College).
